ScottishPower Digital ID Card

Anyone who visits your home who works for ScottishPower will carry a digital ID badge, on a tablet. On a ScottishPower digital ID badge you will find, the ScottishPower logo the name of the employee, a reference number, an employee photograph, an expiry date of the ID card and a contact number.

Who from ScottishPower could visit your home?

Representatives from ScottishPower who may visit you, include:

  • Meter readers
  • Meter installation or maintenance employees
  • Energy advisers
  • Welfare agents
  • Revenue protection staff
  • Community liaison officers

Meter readers or meter installation and maintenance employees

Calisen meter reading services carry out meter readings on our behalf. Meter readers read and record your gas and/or electricity meters to determine the amount your bill should be. All gas and electricity meters require a visual safety inspection as part of our energy licence obligation. This is an Ofgem requirement and is there to protect you by making sure your meters meet specific safety obligations. Calisen carry an ID badge showing their company logo, a photo of the meter reader, their name, an expiry date, a reference number and the Claisen phone number, which is 0345 612 2121. Smart Meter Installers

Providor help us to install smart meters at homes around the UK. Book a smart meter appointment, or learn more about how a smart meter could benefit you.

Energy advisers

Energy advisers help to explain our tariffs, products and smart solutions whilst also offering smart meters to existing customers. All our energy advisers will wear ScottishPower branded uniforms and carry a tablet with a digital ID badge. They will also carry a physical ID card with a verification number on the back, which you can use to confirm their identity. The number printed will be 0800 014 1021 and is free to call Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.45pm.

Welfare agents

Our welfare agents do welfare checks on customers who have an outstanding balance built up. They don’t use an appointment system and their hours of business are Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm. Our welfare agents don’t wear a ScottishPower branded uniform, however they carry a photo ID card showing their name and the name and logo of the company they work for. In addition, they carry a ‘Letter of Authority’ which is signed by ScottishPower and confirms that they’re working on our behalf.

Revenue protection staff

Our revenue protection staff investigate allegations of meter tampering which is a criminal offence. They don’t have names on their badge, only their personnel number and a telephone number, which will connect you to our scheduling teams. You can call them free on 0800 027 7845 Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm.

Community liaison officers

If you’re a part of our customer Priority Services Register you may have visits organised from a community liaison officer, to discuss your needs and offer help, advice and support.

For more information on who and why a ScottishPower representative may come to your home, please read our Visiting Your Home Charter. And if you have any cause to believe a representative may not be genuine call the police immediately.
