Charging at home: a smart choice for a sustainable future.

Demand for home EV chargers is on the rise and by 2035 new petrol and diesel cars will no longer be sold in the UK8. So, getting your home ready for a low carbon future by installing an electric car charger is a practical move.

But adding a home EV charger could make good financial sense too. Research from our Better Homes, Cooler Planet report with WWF shows that installing an EV charger could boost your home’s value by £5,400 to £7,400.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

* EV Charger Spring Sale. Terms and conditions apply.

1

The total credit amount of £60 (inc VAT) is based on a calculation of the equivalent cost of charging 833.33kWh at the average off peak rate of our EV Saver tariff (7.2p) which equates to 2,500 miles based on an assumed average electricity usage per mile of 3kWh. If using another ScottishPower tariff, the credit amount will remain at £60, which will equate to a different number of miles. The £60 will be credited to your electricity account within 30 days of your charger install. This is a limited time offer and may be withdrawn at any time. Terms and conditions apply.

2

Easee one charger - Uhook included with the next 100 purchases. Start date (11.04.2025). Terms and conditions apply.

3

This is dependant on electricity usage in your property, your car and battery size.

4

Connection to Solar panels is not included as part of a standard installation. Our installer will be able to provide a quote for any additional equipment required and connection upon request after your online survey has been completed.

6

To be eligible for the EV Saver tariff you must be a ScottishPower electricity customer, have a single rate smart meter that sends half-hourly readings and pay by monthly Direct Debit. If you are not currently a ScottishPower customer, you can join us on our Standard Variable tariff and then switch to the EV Saver tariff through your online account. The off peak timings are based on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). However, during British Summer Time (BST), the time periods will change to reflect the new time zone. BST runs from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October.

7

All electricity used will be charged at your normal unit rate based on your ScottishPower tariff. The credit for your EV smart charging session will appear as credit on your bill. The greenest times of day will be when the carbon intensity of the electricity required to charge your EV is at its lowest. This will vary each day depending on a number of factors, including weather conditions, renewable energy generation and demand on the grid.

9

These timings are based on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). However, during British Summer Time (BST), the time periods will change on selected SMETS1 meters to reflect the new time zone. BST runs from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. See last FAQ above

10

Saving is based on driving an average of 8,000 miles per year, achieving 3 miles per kWh and using 2,666 kWh per year to charge their car at the rate of 10p per kWh whilst using EV Optimise add-on, compared to the SVT rate of 27.02p as of 1st April 2025. You will be charged at your normal electricity unit rate for your charging session and credited the difference. Savings may vary depending on car make and model and driving efficiency.
