You will be charged at your normal electricity unit rate for charging your EV. The difference between your normal tariff rate and the smart charge rate of 10p per kWh will be credited back to your account. This credit will be shown as a separate line item on your bill, making it easy to see your total savings for each billing period.
Find everything you need to know about EV Optimise billing - from details on how to track your savings, how you will be billed and more.
You can track your savings with EV Optimise through the ScottishPower App.
Once you finish an EV Optimise charging session, you can click ‘Session Overview’ on your dashboard. Here you will see a charge breakdown, alongside the total cost and savings.
To see your historic charging sessions, you can click ‘View all history’ on your dashboard. This will provide visibility of your last 20 charging sessions and savings in a monthly breakdown view.
Your bill will also include a line showing the total savings accumulated from your smart charging sessions for each billing period.
The smart charging credit you receive from EV Optimise won’t affect your Direct Debit amount. The EV Optimise credits will accumulate in your online account balance. You may choose to change your Direct Debit amount or request a refund in your online account.
If you think your credit is not quite right, please send us an email to evoptimisesupport@scottishpower.com and our team will investigate. To help our agents respond as quickly as possible, please include the following:
You can find your ScottishPower account number at the top of the ScottishPower App Home Screen or on your bills.
Please note smart charging savings are not reflected on your energy usage or in our Energy Insights graphs.
There may be differences between the charging cost information you see in the ScottishPower App and your car or charger manufacturer apps. This may be due to assumptions made by third parties about your tariff, energy losses, and other factors. ScottishPower is not responsible for the accuracy of data supplied by other parties. Any discrepancies should be addressed with them.
If you disable EV Optimise in the ScottishPower App, your car charging at home will be billed at your normal tariff rate and will not receive any EV Optimise credit. You can disable EV Optimise smart charging by going to the ‘Settings’ screen in your EV Optimise dashboard and selecting ‘Disable smart charging’. This means our smart charging algorithm will not engage and you can manually charge your car at home using your car, charger or third-party apps.
Please note that having other schedules set up on your car, charger or in third-party apps will interfere with our algorithm and won’t allow you to smart charge with EV Optimise. Instructions for removing your existing smart charging settings can differ depending on the provider, so please consult your manufacturers website, app or manual.
