Can I use other apps alongside EV Optimise?

We recognise your car and charger manufacturers provide mobile apps with useful features to help you manage your charging and more. If you use other apps for your car or charger, we recommend following any guidance about using them alongside EV Optimise.

Can I use EV Optimise alongside my regular car charging app?

We recognise your car and charger manufacturers provide mobile apps with useful features to help you manage your charging and more. Whilst you can continue to use these apps, it's important you disable any charging schedules, timers or settings in your car manufacturer’s app before onboarding. This is because they can interfere with the EV Optimise algorithm and impact your savings. Don’t worry, you can still use your car manufacturer’s app for all the other features they offer.

Please note, you may receive multiple notifications from other car/charging apps during each charging sessions if you have those notifications enabled.

You should not sign up to other third-party EV smart charging services as this may interfere with EV Optimise and your savings.

Do I need to remove existing schedules from my wall charger?

Yes, you will need to remove any existing charge schedules from your car manufacturer app, charger app, or any other smart charging service before you start smart charging with EV Optimise.

This is because other smart charging schedules can interfere with the EV Optimise algorithm, which can affect the delivery of your charging session, meaning you may not receive the lower smart charging rate.

Instructions for removing your existing smart charging settings can differ depending on the provider, so please refer to the manufacturer's website, app or manual for more details.

Depending on your car brand, you may notice schedules appearing on your car app when a smart charging session starts - some car manufacturers use this method to prevent unwanted charging. To avoid interfering with your smart charging session, you should not try to manually delete the schedule.

If in doubt, follow this simple rule:

  • Remove all schedules you have set in any app other than the ScottishPower App before smart charging starts
  • Leave any schedules that appear on their own once a smart charging session starts. They will disappear on their own once the session ends.
